1989.
Prague, Berlin, Bucarest. Une succession d'évènements visuels nous
reste fortement en mémoire. Au travers des images, ce fut le retour de
l’Histoire, car on pouvait y voir des révolutions. Celle de décembre,
cette même année, en Roumanie, prouve alors que la maîtrise de l’image
permet celle du pouvoir. Jusqu’ici, le film enregistrait l’histoire.
Maintenant, le film est une condition de possibilité de l’histoire.
Confrontant images professionnelles et amateurs de ces évènements, ce
document est à la fois une chronique, une analyse et un monument. Du 21
décembre 1989 (dernier discours de Ceauşescu) au 26 décembre 1989
(premier résumé télévisuel de son procès), le scénario révolutionnaire
complet est exposé. Nous avons réuni ces différents documents dans
l’intention de reconstruire la chronologie visuelle de ces jours.
1989. Prague, Berlin, Budapest. A succession of visual events ingrained
in our memories. History was making a comeback through images, for
revolutions were being shown. The December revolution in Romania was
proof that command of the image meant command of power. Up until then,
film had recorded history. Now, the film became a condition for history
to exist. Confronting professional and amateur images of the events,
this document is at once a chronicle, an analysis and a monument. From
the 21st of December 1989 (Ceaucescu's last speech) to the 26th of
December 1989 (the first televised summary of his trial), the entire
revolutionary scenario is put on display. The material was combined in
order to reconstruct a visual chronology of the time.
