Tourné
en Russie dans la ville de Moscou et vers l’île de Kronstadt, c’est un
film sur le retour et le recommencement, sur la persistance de la
vision, d’où remontent des fantômes. Fantômes de l’histoire qui
continuent de hanter le présent. Trois figures, trois voix vont se
manifester. Ces voix, à travers poèmes ou récits documentaires disent
une histoire commune d’amour et d’amitié en prise avec l’époque 1938 et
sa violence, dont l’un des protagonistes le poète Ossip Mandelstam
finira dans le camp de la Kolyma. Il s’agit dans ce film sans
commentaire, d’arpenter en étranger une terre, des lieux où l’on
retourne, jusqu’à lever le voile du temps présent : l’abrupte actualité.

Shot in Russia in the city of Moscow and in the region of Kronstadt,
this is a film on return and recommencement, on the persistence of
vision from which ghosts arise once more. Ghosts of history which
continue to haunt the present. Three characters, three voices appear.
Voices which through poems and documentary accounts tell the story of
love and friendship shared, in conflict with the times and the violence
of 1938. One of the characters was the poet Osip Mandelstam, whose life
ended in the Kolyma camp. This is a film without commentary, a
stranger's survey of a land, of places one goes back to, to the extent
of lifting the veil on present times, abruptly revealing the current
situation.
