2011. Le Caire. Elsayed, Noha et Ahmed sont de jeunes Égyptiens qui
font la révolution. Ils occupent la place Tahrir jour et nuit. Ils
crient et chantent, avec des milliers d'autres Égyptiens, ce qu'ils
n'ont pas pu dire à voix haute jusqu'ici. Les répressions sanguinaires
du régime attisent la révolte : à Tahrir on résiste, on apprend à
débattre et à lancer des pierres, à inventer des slogans et à soigner
les blessés, à défier l'armée et à préserver le territoire conquis. Un
espace de liberté s'ouvre enfin, où l'on s'enivre de mots.
Tahrir
est un film écrit par les visages, les mains et les voix de ceux qui
ont vécu ces journées. Une chronique au jour le jour de la révolution,
aux côtés de ces protagonistes.
February 2011. Cairo. Elsayed, Noha et Ahmed are young Egytians taking
part in the revolution. They occupy Tahrir Square day and night. Along
with thousands of other Egyptians, they cry and sing out all they have
not been able to say aloud until now. The bloody repression of the
regime fans the fire of revolt : on Tahrir they resist, they learn to
debate and to throw stones, to invent slogans and care for the injured,
to defy the army and to defend conquered territory. A space for freedom,
with its heady words, is opening up at last.
Tahrir is a film written with the faces, hands and voices of the people
who lived through those days. A day-to-day account of the revolution,
hand in hand with its protagonists.
